This is my first blog post! Purpose? To share an exciting new chapter in my life and tell the world about God’s wonderful deeds!

Over the past few months I’ve gone through some trials and heart-break; however, it’s been awesome to see God close an old door and open an incredibly new door in my life. I’ve come to realize that some of my relationships were not God’s plan for me, and he used the trials to conform me more into the image of Christ and transform me. I certainly did not understand this at first (I was leaning on my own understanding rather than trusting Him – Proverbs 3:5-6) but as I drew closer to the Lord and matured a bit more spiritually, I started to realize what the Lord was truly revealing about those old relationships – and more importantly what he has in store for me! I was blind but now I see… I was too wrapped up in worldly things to see the truth about my life and my relationship with my Savior and Lord. I was seeking happiness from things and people that come and go like the weather rather than finding everlasting and faithful joy in the Lord that stands firm.

BUT, one thing I know that remains forever is God’s goodness! I want to share with you all about the amazing good things God has done and is doing in my life especially these last few months. In December, I returned to Zambia, Africa for my third mission trip to minister to the orphans in the compounds surrounding Lusaka — to love on my babies yet again. Except this time, it was a bit different because my dad and brother were not able to join me during this journey. Yes, I went across the world by myself with no family members to do what I love most. My love for the children in Zambia only grew deeper on this last trip. During the trip and upon my return home, I have developed several new relationships with families and friends that are daily serving the Lord and the orphans. I have a great burden to serve these vulnerable kids and a joy sealed in my heart for each child that I have developed a relationship with, and the list is growing. God used my last trip and these new relationships to stir a desire in me to step out in faith and pursue my passion to care for the orphans on a full-time basis.

On February 15, 2017, I took a huge step in my life and moved to Dallas, Texas to do an internship with Family Legacy. I am currently living in the big city. While working at the ministry, I have met new faces, made new relationships and joined a Christ centered church; it has been a huge blessing. Thank you Watermark for allowing me to step into your sanctuary and feel the love of God through His people. I will be here in Dallas until a leave in late May to return to Zambia to serve on Summer staff for several weeks through July. Exciting times!!!

As I said at the beginning, I have gone through some trials recently but God turns beauty from ashes. He has opened my eyes to His truth and His will for my life. I praise Him for my trails. Nothing in my life compares to bringing God glory by serving and pouring myself into the lives of my sweet beloved children of Zambia.

I hope these words provide some encouragement, and little glimpse into my (our) world. Don’t forget my story is His story! Its HISabel’s Stories…

With His love,

Isabel
